Big Bird, Linda Ronstadt and Sally Field celebrated at Kennedy Center

Linda is among the latest group of recipients of the Kennedy Center Honors for lifetime achievement in the arts.

Linda threw a little political shade as well, at the center’s annual State Department dinner on Saturday night.

“When I heard The Byrds doing folk rock, I thought that was what I wanted to do”

Excerpt from The New Yorker Interview:

So what drew you to folk rock in the sixties?

“I loved popular folk music like Peter, Paul and Mary. I loved the real traditional stuff, like the Carter family. I loved Bob Dylan. And I tried to copy what I could. When I heard the Byrds doing folk rock, I thought that was what I wanted to do.”

A voice from the past 

“The great thing about having a hit is that means people like you,” Ronstadt told the audience. 
“But the bad thing about it is, it means you have to sing that song over and over and over again, night after and night after night, ’til it starts sounding like your washing machine.” Full article
